sunday stealing: celebrity confession

Celebrity Obsession

Celebrity: a famous person

01. First Celebrity Obsession or Crush
this is funny and quite embarrassing but as a 5-year old i apparently had the biggest crush on donny osmond. i loved the donny and marie show so much that my parents got me a donny and marie lunchbox for school. 😛

02. Favorite Celebrity Encounter
i have really only seen two celebrities–tom selleck, which i talked about in yesterday’s post, and daniel dae kim, when he was at an office supply store, getting school supplies for his kids. he was there with his whole family though so people were respectful and didn’t try to approach him but just kinda stood around and gaped. heehee. my sister was the one who spotted him, and when she whispered it to me, i didn’t believe her and managed to persuade her that someone like him wouldn’t be out shopping for school supplies. but we ended up standing behind him in line at the cash register, and the cashier asked him if he was on lost, to which he nodded, and the cashier went on gushing about the show, and i turned to my sister and we both looked at each other wide-eyed and realized it was him. he was very humble and smiled and thanked the cashier for watching the show, and then they left. my sister and i tried to hurry through the line so we could go out and see what kind of car he drove but the cashier was still fangirling to us that that was daniel dae kim and kept talking to us and we were like yeah yeah yeah 😛 and then we hurried out but they were already gone. shucks.

i’ve also had the fortune to meet quite a few local recording artists, including one who is known on the continent when his song was featured in a commercial. i’ve met them through hula when they played for us at various performances throughout the years. but i guess that wouldn’t really be considered “celebrity” to most.

03. Most Cherished Celebrity Obsession

most cherished? gosh, i don’t know. i went through so many of them, that i don’t know who was the most cherished. hmm.

04. A celebrity you’d love to hang out with

i don’t think i’d want to hang out with any of them because they’d make me too nervous.

05. A celebrity you’d love to sit down and have a conversation with

again, i’d be too nervous. i’m not a chatter normally so having someone famous sitting down to talk with would be nerve-wracking!

06. An artist you’d like to see live
i don’t know if there is any? the ones i’d most like to see are too old now to tour. or they have died–like i wouldn’t have minded seeing michael jackson perform, just for all his dance moves.

07. A celebrity you respect purely for talent
okay maybe he’s on my mind due to the last question but i’d say purely for talent michael jackson. he could beat box, he could sing, he could dance. the other parts of his life were questionable, but just speaking talent-wise, i have enormous respect for him.

08. A celebrity you feel you’d be good friends with
hmm i used to think that i could be good friends with kina grannis just because she seemed to think the same way i did, when i would read her blog. the way she looked at things, the way she expressed herself, the things she thought were funny were all pretty similar to things i have thought or said or wrote, and i thought to myself, wow, she’s kinda like me, except pretty and popular and a good singer. but lately i guess she’s been busy and stuff so she hasn’t updated her blog in a long time and i guess she’s more focused on her music now and there’s a noticeable change about her, and i don’t think that we would be that good friends any more. but that’s how it is in my life, i guess. i have good friends, and then they move on.

09. A celebrity you dislike that others seem to love
oh gosh, there are so many. i don’t see the appeal at all of tom cruise. i never did, even before the whole crazy period he went through. i didn’t see the appeal of brad pitt, either, even before the whole jennifer aniston thing. i do admit, though, seeing him holding his kids did make my heart soften a bit for him. 😛 there are also quite a few musicians whom i don’t get. i guess that’s a sign of me being old.

10. A celebrity you respect for what they’ve been through in life
oh gosh i’m sure if i sat and thought about it i could come up with someone but as i have to leave soon i’ll have to just say i don’t know. i’ll come back and edit if i do think of one.

11. A celebrity you share a birthday with
shane conrad has the exact same birthday as me. and in looking him up (i originally typed cassidy instead of conrad, whoops!) i found others with the same birthday that i hadn’t known about, some that made me go aww, like jim henson, phil hartman, and linda mccartney. and i think i kinda knew that stephanie mcmahon had the same birthday as me, when i used to be into wrestling years back, but i had forgotten about her until she popped up on that list.

12. A celebrity you find annoying
there are quite a few. any of those young partiers come to mind. tom cruise. andy richter. wayne brady. people that are just too eager.

13. Favorite under-20 celebrity
i have no idea. i don’t run with that crowd.

14. Favorite over-60 celebrity
i absolutely adore judi dench from as time goes by. i also love julie andrews. i think it’s a tie between the two of them.

15. The celebrity “fandom” that means most to you
i kinda find those annoying. i do fangirl over some but the whole fandom thing tends to irritate me.

  2. The AARP magazine is from the Association of Retired Persons, it’s for folks over 50.

I forgot about Donny Osmond but I really was more into David Cassidy.
