sunday stealing: tv meme

TV Meme, part one

1. TV Theme songs. Which is your favorite, and which makes you crazy enough to hit mute on the remote?
i don’t think there’s any that i would hit mute on, at least i can’t think of any. i’m not sure of a favorite, though. there are a lot that i can think of right now but none of them stand out as my favorite.

2. The Classics. What is your favorite Classic TV show?
well, it was my dad’s favorite show, so i remember watching it a lot as a kid–leave it to beaver. i also liked the magic ones, if those could be considered classic. although now i wonder if the shows i grew up watching are considered classic? i’m thinking classic as black and white shows, but for someone who grew up in the 00s maybe the 80s are classic? 😦

3. What character from a Classic TV show would you like to be?
i guess samantha stevens. i’d love to have magic powers.

4. Can you remember a line you liked from a Classic TV show?
i just remember them always saying “aw gee” on leave it to beaver. “aw gee, wally.” “aw gee, dad.” heehee

5. Heroes. What show featuring those who protect your country (fiction or non-fiction) is your favorite?
hmm. i don’t know that i watch any of those.

6. TV Cops. Who is your favorite (past or present) TV cop? Which TV cop do you think was the most crooked, or the most inept?
my favorite is detective rey curtis. 🙂 i’m not sure about the most crooked or most inept. i can’t really think of any.

7. You need to hire a bodyguard for yourself. Which TV cop do you choose?
detective curtis. 🙂 although he’d probably need to guard his body from me.

8. TV Doctors. Which TV doctor would you choose to remove your appendix? Which TV doctor would you not let touch you with a 10- foot pole?
well, seeing that i’m on a house kick right now i would say dr. cameron. i’m only up to season 3 so i hope she doesn’t go cuckoo in the end that would make me want to change. 😛 i wouldn’t let dr. reid touch me. i know she’s not a surgeon, but i wouldn’t want her around me at all. i can’t stand her. i’d even rather have dr. house, who fascinates me, but i don’t like his bedside manner.

9. TV Moms. Which TV mom would you have liked to have had for your own? Is there a TV mom you would never want as your own?
oh gosh. they were all the same, weren’t they? stayed at home and cooked and kept the house clean. always catering to the husband. i don’t know. maybe lorelai–she seemed to know when to be supportive and when to step up to be the mom. but she can be annoying in that she’s so needy of attention. i don’t think i’d want the later years roseanne as a mom. the earlier years were fine–she was sassy but you could tell she loved her kids. but by the end, it just went all weird, and the affection she had for her kids (or anyone, really) didn’t come through as much. she never seemed to laugh as much as she did earlier on, too.

10. TV Dads. Which TV Dad would you have most liked to have for your own dad? On the flipside, who was the TV Dad you’d have least liked to have had?
okay, now i’m thinking of dan. he was funny, but also very protective of his family. you know he’d have no problems beating someone up so who would hurt anyone in his family. not that i would want someone who beats up people, but just to know that you are that protected, that safe feeling. i like that. all the other dads i really don’t know. they just seemed to be there, but not really do anything but be served or handle the big decisions. i don’t think i’d like someone like christopher as a dad, but if he did show up and offer to pay for my college tuition one day, i’d gladly take it. that was probably his only good quality, that he was rich.

11. Comedies. How do you feel about sitcoms? Good, wholesome fun or saccharine inanity?
i love sitcoms. as long as they’re not too stupid, i’d probably watch it.

12. If your life was a sitcom, what would the title be?
trite. my life is not funny enough to be a sitcom.

13. If you went to a comedy club on amateur night, and they gave you some jokes and a microphone, would you go onstage?
no.

14. Reality. Are you a fan of Reality TV? What’s your “can’t miss” reality TV show (or shows), or what reality TV show do you suppose the devil plays on the TV in Hell as punishment?
i used to really like reality, but there are just so many now and most of them are just a bunch of fame-seekers, so i don’t watch them any more. usually when something first comes out it’s pretty good but as the seasons wear on and the contestants are more attention-seeking (especially because they already know what to expect, so they know what makes good tv), i don’t like it. i used to never miss the amazing race, but i haven’t seen it for the past few years. i also liked any kind of cooking ones–hell’s kitchen, kitchen nightmares, iron chef, food revolution, etc. as long as it’s not by bobby flay. i LOVED the mole. i was sad it was only a few seasons, but it probably would have turned bad like all the others do. i think a lot of the reality shows now are the devil’s choice. there are so many that i hear about and think why would people want to watch that?

15. If you were given a free ticket to be on any reality show, which one would you choose?
i’d love to be on the amazing race just so i can travel and see countries and figure out clues, although some of the clues aren’t really puzzles. i’d love to be on the mole if maybe i was the mole, because otherwise i’d be eliminated in the first round! heehee. i’m so not a good reader of people.

  1. Detective Curtis was a great character. I named my cat Rey after him! Samantha Stevens is a very good choice.

  2. Oh, I love The Mole, too!!

  3. I love Amazing Race too, but don’t have the stamina to be on it…but I love watching all the exotic locales, especially when they go places where we have been. Re Dads, Dan who and Christopher who?

  4. I hate to admit it, but the 80s were 30 years ago…definitely classics by now. Just like me. LOL But hey, Leave It To Beaver was a great show. I even watched it when they revisited it for a couple of years on Disney or Nickelodeon or whatever channel it was.

  5. Now I really feel old…in the 80s, my kids were all just about grown. “Classics” for me were the 50s and 60s.

  6. I loved Samantha and her magic powers. That would be great to have those.
