1: Do you notice a persons eye color?
usually only if i’ve had a conversation with him or her.
2: White, milk, or dark chocolate mocha?
i guess milk, though i love the mocha flavor, too–just not the dark. and i don’t like white.
3: If you could get a tattoo free, would you do it? what would it be?
no, i don’t think so. first of all, pain, and second of all, i change my mind so often that i don’t think i could have anything permanent.
4: Did you grow up in a small or big town? Did you like it?
i grew up smack dab in the middle of a city. well, not smack dab. but along the outskirts of the major bustling downtown area. we went everywhere by foot or bus. i liked it. it was hard for me to transition when i moved to where i am now because it was just so darn quiet here. i was used to hearing ambulances tearing down the streets, footsteps at all hours of the day, chatter here and there, sounds of music blaring from a nearby party, or yelling from a nearby domestic. but when i moved to where i am now–there was nothing. except crickets. i had a very hard time sleeping. even now, i have to have the background noises of a fan AND the radio/tv. but i liked everything being close by, that you could just walk there and not have to worry about driving.
5: Your favorite adult as a child? (and not your parents, if they were your favorite)
well, i always got along well with my teachers, especially my 5th grade teacher. we’d all stay after school and talk, which now i realize i was probably bothering her! i get paid back for that now, big time. i also really liked my mom’s younger sister–she’s the one who taught me how to crochet, how to dance all those 70s dances that was popular. we’d sit (she was still in her late teens at this time) and she’d play her joni mitchell, carole king, and phoebe snow albums, and she’d put make up on me, or style my hair, all the while singing and every once in a while, getting me to stand up so we could dance together. sometimes her boyfriend would be over, and he’d sit there, strumming his guitar, and the two of us would sing and dance. i really liked her. i got to see her every sunday when we would go to visit grandma, and i really looked forward to spending time with her. that was only a few years, though, because once she got married, she moved out of my grandma’s and i rarely saw her. even now, i see her maybe once a year. well, it’s been more times since my grandma was ill; i saw her a lot during those final weeks of my grandma’s life, but even when we thought back about those times, it was always tinged with sadness. but before then, it was like once a year, if even that. but i still feel some sort of connection to her.
6: What kind of smoothie sounds really good right now?
something orangey…maybe creamy, as well. but i think more orangey/pineappley/lemony–i could use something tangy right now.
7: Most embarrassing moment from your elementary school years?
oh gosh, as an awkward child, my whole life is rife with embarrassing moments. so hard to choose the one that was the most! 😳 okay, i remember a time we were doing sit-ups, where one person had to hold the other person’s feet down, while you did sit-ups, and as i completed one, i let out a little gas. well, it wasn’t that little, it was kinda loud. and then the person holding my feet–who was actually my pretty good friend, or so i thought, said loudly, “oh great, here comes the smell.” i was mortified. from that day on, i made sure that on PE days, i made sure i went to the bathroom in the morning before school, and then i wouldn’t eat all day, just to avoid having that happen again! so embarrassing!!! 😳 that is also why now when my kids do it, i don’t make a big deal out of it, and i stifle any other giggles by letting them know it’s not funny–it’s natural, and everyone does it, to save the child’s embarrassment. it just got out-of-hand one year when they all started just letting it rip at all times! especially when i had an observer! but i don’t want them to have that shame i had! 😦
8: Most embarrassing moment from your middle school years?
again, i am very easily embarrassed. i really can’t think of the *most* embarrassing thing. i do or say something embarrassing daily. i can’t think of anything that was on the magnitude of the above one, though.
9: Most embarrassing moment from your high school years?
i think i mentioned this once before–i was getting out of a 2-door car where you have to tip the front seat forward to get out, and my foot got caught in the seatbelt as i was coming out, and i somehow ended up on the sidewalk on my back, with one leg high up in the air because that foot was tangled up in the seatbelt, and everyone around me could see my brightly-colored underwear, since i was wearing a skirt, that managed to hike up to my hips, from my rolling around on the ground. 😳 which is why i applauded the 80s style of wearing leggings under your skirts and dresses. i was a big fan of that afterwards!!
10: Have you ever fired anyone?
11: Have you ever climbed a tree more than twenty feet off the ground?
no. i was afraid of heights (well, still am) and didn’t like being up high. i liked my feet on the ground.
12: Did you like swinging as a child? Do you still get excited when you see a swing set?
yes, i did. there were several swing sets in our playground at school and at the rec. center, and that was a favorite activity to do. they are all gone now–ah, the sadness of a sue-happy world. but i loved swinging. not only the back and forth swinging, but we’d also do the ones where you start at opposite corners, and run to the adjacent corner, hop up and twirl with your neighbor, so you became one big tangled mess in the middle, and then as the swings unwind, you’d sit and spin around and around and around…so much fun. i do still get excited when i see a swing set, because you just don’t see them around any more!
13: If you could have any pet in the world, illegal or not, what would you get?
i always wanted a monkey. and for a while, i wanted a pot-bellied pig. but i’d also like a pet dolphin or something. that would mean i’d have to live on the beach, but that’s fine. 🙂
14: What’s your favorite place to relax?
at home, whether it’s my home or my mom’s. i also like the beach.
15: What’s your most favorite part of your personality?
i don’t really have a personality. yup, no looks, no personality. it’s no wonder i’m single.
16: Madonna or Lady Gaga? Neither? Both? Who cares?
i liked 80s madonna. didn’t really care for her after that. i like some of lady gaga’s songs–very dancey and earwormy, but as far as the person herself? eh. i’d have to choose the “who cares?” option.
17: Have you ever watched the Superbowl all the way through?
18: Have you ever watched any major sporting event live?
yes! we’d go to almost all the islanders games. and in my high school & college years, i went to many volleyball and football games. oh, i guess they’re not major, though, huh? and the islanders were a minor league (though they had barry bonds!) so…yeah. maybe not, then. 😦
19: What’s the most delicious food you’ve ever eaten in your life?
gosh, i don’t know. burnt creme?
20: Margarine or butter? Which did you grow up with?
butter. i only use butter. we grew up using only margarine because back then butter was bad for you. plus, it was cheaper. but now, i only use butter.
