from here.

FRIDAY 5 FOR DECEMBER 30: CLOSING TIME

What business establishment’s recent closing was the most disappointing for you?
i was really sad the blue water shrimp truck left my town. 😦 they had the best steak plate.

At what place of business or service are you most likely to be the day’s last customer out the door?
work.

What place of business or service seems to be closed at times inconvenient to you?
the post office.

Where in the real world (not online) will you most likely spend your last 2011 money?
i think that year it was probably safeway or something.

What business or service has been the biggest blessing to you because it is always open?
stores & restaurants that open 24 hours. 🙂

FRIDAY 5 FOR DECEMBER 23: MORE 2011 REVIEW

In 2011, what did you do far too many times?
i indulged more than i should have.

In 2011, what did you rediscover?
hmm. that was a hard year with the stuff i had to go through the first half of the year. i sort of rediscovered that i needed to start taking care of myself and not let myself get too stressed.

What 2011 event will you still be paying for in 2012?
okay, i can answer this now because i know how it affected me in 2012 🙂 back then i wouldn’t have had an answer.

In what unexpected place did you find a friend in 2011?
well, i don’t know if it should’ve been ‘unexpected’ but one of my coworkers and i got close, probably because of our misery, and we went from casual acquaintance to trusted confidante. it’s unexpected because i hadn’t had that for a while. i had one my first year, but she moved, and then i had one for next few years, but then she moved (and later, passed away), and since then, there has been no one that i’ve been that close to. but, sadly, she moved away, too, this past year.

As 2011 comes to a close, what in your life is trending upward toward a much better 2012?
um. i don’t recall. i don’t think it ended on a very good note. although the weirdness i had been having in the first part of the year was gone, so … maybe it was that?

FRIDAY 5 FOR DECEMBER 16: AWARD SEASON

What wins your award for Best Supporting Household Appliance?
my skillet allowed me to start cooking non-bake meals again, since my stovetop first stopped working a couple of years ago.

What wins your award for Outstanding Performance by Something that Comes in a Bottle or Can?
well, it’s not outstanding taste-wise, but it is in the fact that it’s kept me nourished most of the year: canned tuna.

Who wins your award for Excellence in Poor Timing?
one of my coworkers. :/

What wins your award for Wardrobe Newcomer of the Year?
a blouse i got that is so soft and feminine.

What wins your award for Outstanding Achievement in Stealing Time?
angry birds took up a great deal of my time, especially as i waited in drs’ offices and hospitals.

(bonus question!) The American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences calls its trophy the Oscar. The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences calls its trophy the Grammy. What do you call yours?
well, no one wants my trophy so it’d have to be something repugnant. Raaaaaid!

FRIDAY 5 FOR DECEMBER 9: TOPPINGS

What’s your favorite ice cream topping?
oreo crumbles.

What’s your favorite pizza topping?
mozzarella.

What’s your favorite thing to sprinkle cocoa powder on?
whipped cream.

What’s your favorite thing to put whipped cream on?
heh.

What do you like to put upon a cracker?
cheese.

FRIDAY 5 FOR DECEMBER 2: BRRRR!

What’s your favorite thing about cold weather?
weekends, so i can stay snuggled up under the blankets for as long as i want.

Soups and hot beverages seem to be everyone’s favorite cold-weather culinary combatant, but what’s another food that seems to take the bite out of the cold?
does stew count as a soup? well, i love curries and stews even if it’s not cold but they are especially nice in cold, rainy weather.

When the weather is just starting to turn cold but is not yet in full frigidity, what do you add to your bed until it’s time to break out the heavy artillery? (I said what, not whom!)
i don’t think i add anything to the bed. i still use my same blanket, whether hot or cold, and i need my fan going because i need the noise. everything is the same, no matter the weather, except for the side of the blanket i use.

What household chore seems especially unkind in these colder months?
they’re all pretty unkind. i guess cleaning the cages.

Among people you know, who seems most oblivious to cold weather?
my son. he’s always not feeling the slightest bit cold when i’m shivering and my teeth are chattering. in fact, that’s how i could tell i had a fever one day; we had stepped out in the morning to go to school & work, and i was sweating and was about to say, “wow, it’s unusual to be this warm in january–it feels like july!”, when he remarked, “wow, it’s a little bit chilly out here.” i was like, “what?? you think it’s chilly??” and he replied, “a little bit.” i thought he was just playing around with me, but when i got in the car and saw the windows were fogged, it made me come back home after dropping him off, and taking my temperature. lo and behold, i had a pretty high fever. :S anyway, i tell him he doesn’t feel cold all the time because he’s so spoiled to go to a school that has a/c. :/ i could be totally bundled up, freezing under blankets, and he’s asleep with just regular clothes and no blankets. he rarely uses sweaters or jackets. he doesn’t like long sleeves or pants. i can’t even fathom. that’s the part he takes after his dad in. or, again, i blame his a/c classrooms. 😛
