FRIDAY 5 FOR JANUARY 29: HOOPS
When did you last feel you were required to jump through meaningless hoops to get something you wanted?
oh i always have to do them but that doesn’t mean i get what i want. i’m especially thinking about work.
What kinds of hula hoop memories do you have?
i was pretty good with hula hoop. my sisters and i would play it in the living room and see who could go the longest. the one thing i could never do was the lemon thingie. i was so jealous of my sister who could do that. i never had anyone show me specifically what you needed to do, so i just had to watch people and i couldn’t figure it out 😦
How do you feel about basketball?
eh. i don’t care for it.
What do you think of hoop earrings?
i used to love wearing those huge hoop earrings that were so popular in the ’80s. i haven’t in a long time though. they just get in the way.
What’s your favorite Whoopi Goldberg movie?
FRIDAY 5 FOR JANUARY 22: PERSONAL ADDS
What’s your favorite “just add water!” food?
i used to like those pasta thingies where you just add water. i’m also so fascinated with those japanese candies where all you do is add water and you can make all these neat gummies that look like the real things.
What’s your favorite thing to add vinegar to?
What’s something weird you’ve added to normal food?
as in making projects with food? i glued paper to apples and stuff to make art projects.
What’s your favorite thing to add whipped cream to?
What’s something you refuse to add anything to, even though most people add something?
i really don’t add anything to most stuff, even though i know others will add salt and stuff. it’s not really about refusal, but more that i think things are salty enough as it is.
edit: oh! maybe baked potatoes. i like ’em plain. maybe just a pat of butter, but really, just plain is fine with me. i don’t need cheese or sour cream or bacon bits or green onions. they taste better plain.
FRIDAY 5 FOR JANUARY 15: MISSES
What’s something you frequently misplace?
my keys. i’m always asking my kids, “where’s my keys?” they know to ask me before we leave (and to start looking for them) if i have my keys because i always forget them.
For whom are you often mistaken?
the little kindergarteners mistake me for one of the new fifth grade teachers at our school. i think we look absolutely nothing alike. in fact, she looks A LOT like our tech teacher, which is something my colleagues and i totally agree (for once!) on–we couldn’t believe how many doppelgängers we got in this new batch of teachers that came. and the first thing we all said (well, they said, but i agreed) was how much that one teacher looks like the tech teacher. i do not think i look like either of them, although our absent-minded clerk would always give me the tech teacher’s mail, when the tech teacher was a classroom teacher, so…who knows? but i really don’t think that they look like me, and what an insult to the two of them to insinuate that.
When were you last misinformed about something important?
my grade level loves to plan things without everyone there and then neglects to tell everyone else about their plans until it’s too late or like, the minute of (which is most times, too late). the last one was about our fair. they neglected to let me know that i was responsible for certain things.
Where in your home do you have a seemingly random collection of miscellanea?
the whole house!
Upon meeting someone for the first time, what qualities in the other person are likely to cause you to misjudge him or her?
i really don’t know. i’m probably too nervous to notice anything, the first time.
FRIDAY 5 FOR JANUARY 8: LAST RESORTS
What’s something you wear only when you’re just about out of clean clothes?
hmm, i don’t think i ever get to that point. but i do have a favorite jumper that i wear whenever i do the clothes so i can wash what i was wearing.
Who’s someone you hang out with only if nobody else is available?
What’s something you eat only when the budget is really, really tight?
Who’s someone you call for help only if you absolutely must?
What’s something you’ll watch on television only because it’s slightly better than watching nothing?
most times, i’d rather watch nothing!
FRIDAY FIVE FOR JANUARY 1: NEWNESS
What’s something that’s better when the newness has worn off?
towels. i don’t like soft towels. i don’t feel they clean you as well.
What’s something you already own that could stand to be replaced by the newer version?
oh, everything, from my body to my bed to *covering speakers* my computer.
What’s something that was better before someone made it “new and improved?”
coke? heehee i remember the flack from that. i also don’t like the new design of some apps or websites.
Of geographic locations whose names begin with the word “new,” which seems like the most interesting place to visit?
On what date will 2010 no longer feel like the new year?
the day we go back to work.
