wednesday wickedness: paul mccartney

Paul McCartney

Hi and welcome to Wednesday WickednessWe are like other memes in that we will ask you ten questions each and every Wednesday. But our little “twist” is that each week we will pick a famous person and pick ten of their quotes. Each of our questions will be based on the quotes. The quotes are in bolditalics. Got it? Great! Let’s begin this week’s meme!

Today we picked Paul McCartney. Here’s Wednesday Wickedness!

1. “George wrote Taxman, and I played guitar on it. He wrote it in anger at finding out what the taxman did. He had never known before then what could happen to your money.” No one likes paying taxes. But do you think the tax system is fair?

no, especially when it’s used for something that not everyone benefits from.

2. “I definitely did look up to John. We all looked up to John. He was older and he was very much the leader; he was the quickest wit and the smartest.” What did you think of John Lennon?

well, the reason i chose to do paul mccartney when looking over all the ones i’ve missed over the past few months was because just yesterday i spent a good part of the day just reading up on the mccartney-lennon feud. it started when i was playing sporcle and came across a quiz where it asked who the singer (lennon) was singing to, and the lyric seemed so caustic that i had to look it up to see if it was true, and then came across the feud. then that led to mccartney’s reaction when lennon was killed, and then on to harrison…it was quite morbid, but i learned a bit about these two that i never knew before. i used to think lennon was this great songwriter, la la la peace and all, but as i read up on him…wow. he was a troubled, angry man. kinda sad.

3. “I saw that Meryl Streep said, I just want to do my job well. And really, that’s all I’m ever trying to do.” How do you approach your job whether in the workplace or at home?

i try to do my best. but i get discouraged very easily. i’m constantly looking for different ways to do things to get a high success rate, even if that means i don’t do what everyone else on the grade level is doing, which always leaves me out of things and discussions, and got me scoldings from my principal. but i don’t understand the purpose of doing everything all together when it has no meaning to it, no relevance, but oh hey, we’re all doing it? i’ve gotten in trouble for not following the pack, but i really believe that that’s not always the best thing to do, especially if you’re in charge of getting these kids ready for the next grade level and beyond.

4. “I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird.” Have you found that you have more tolerance for unusual people as you get older?

heehee. yes, i am weird. i don’t know if i’m more tolerant. i think i’m actually more impatient, especially when people play dumb. although i guess it’s not all that unusual.

5. “I don’t take me seriously. If we get some giggles, I don’t mind.” How seriously do you take yourself?

i don’t think i do, but then again, i can see how i might come off that way.

6. “I think people who create and write, it actually does flow-just flows from into their head, into their hand, and they write it down. It’s simple.” Does your blog writing just flow from your head, or is it a lot of effort?

oh gee. starting takes a LOT of effort. but once i get going…it does flow. i can go on for paragraphs and always have to go back and edit things down.

7. “Think globally, act locally.” Do you do anything to help your local community?

hmm. no, sadly. not the one i live in, anyway.

8. “When you first get money, you buy all these things so no one thinks you’re mean, and you spread it around. You get a chauffeur and you find yourself thrown around the back of this car and you think, I was happier when I had my own little car! I could drive myself!” Have you ever had a period where you felt that you were set financially?

i wish.

9. “Lyricists play with words.” Do you think what you write on your blog is clever or just ordinary and why?

HA! i’m not clever. it’s very ordinary. and not even that interesting ordinary, either.

10. “Where I come from, you don’t really talk about how much you’re earning. Those things are private. My dad never told my mum how much he was earning. I’m certainly not going to tell the world. I’m doing well.” Who in your circle knows how much money your family makes?

hmm. i don’t even know how much they make! that’s not something you brag about, even if you are well-to-do. nor do you complain about it, if you’re not. it’s just something you keep to yourself, i think.
