queen’s meme #46

Welcome to The Queen’s Meme #46.
The subject is music.

I used a random word generator to find the words.
Your job is to find a song that uses this word either in the title or lyrics. Give us the title or part of the lyric that fits and the artist. Then say a little something about the tune and why you chose it. Posting a YouTube video of the song would be great! (but not required)
Here we go.

1. Want

“I Want You to Want Me” by Cheap Trick
i don’t know why i like this song–i just do. probably the way the words repeat. i’m geeky that way.
bon jovi also does a cover 😛

2. hell

“Sign Your Name” by Terence Trent D’Arby
“I’d rather be in hell with you baby / Than in cool heaven”
it seems like i just wrote about this song, but yeah, that line sticks out for me. i totally misheard it. heehee. i won’t tell you what i thought it said. 😳
sheryl crow covers this song but i don’t like it. it just doesn’t ooze like this one does.

3. smack

“Squeezed in the Middle” by Chips Ahoy ?
“I’m squeezed in the middle / smack dab in the middle”
heh. i don’t know if this counts? but it’s all i can think of.

4. ugly

“Ugly” by Jon Bon Jovi
i haven’t seen the movie but heard it’s pretty good, but kinda like a long music video. anyway, to me, this doesn’t sound like bon jovi, but the only other song i could think of was u-g-l-y song and all i know is those two lines. 😛

5. beast

“Beast of Burden” by Rolling Stones
growing up with the biggest fan of the rolling stones, i was not unfamiliar with this song, but i LOVED this video during those mtv days. heehee. i knew the whole dialogue in the beginning, even after not having seen it for 20 or so years. “but honey you just gooooooot heeeeereee.” heeheehee.
(and don’t tell my dad, but i like her cover a whole lot better than the original!)

6. Romeo

“Romeo & Juliet” by Stacy Earl
this was on my tape. 🙂
my tape. 😀

7. God

“One of Us” by Joan Osborne
“What if God were one of us?”
i don’t know–i just liked this song because it gave me something to think about.
i also really like the ending; it always makes me smile. 🙂
