the beach meme

The Queen’s Meme #42 ~ The Beach Meme

1. When is the last time you saw the ocean?
i see the ocean every day, fortunately. maybe not at the beach, but i can see it from where i’m driving.

2. Where is your favorite stretch of beach shoreline?
hmm. i can think of one on every island that i’ve been to. most of them are linked to memories, though, instead of just like its sheer beauty.

3. Are you planning a beach vacation this year?
no, unfortunately. i should, though.

4. Bikinis or one-piece?
well, i like the tankinis. basically, built to look like a one-piece but without the inconvenience of having to take the *whole* thing off when you need to go to the bathroom.

5. Do you sunbathe or sit under an umbrella?
i used to try and sunbathe but i’m fair and burn easily. there was a period when i was in college where i got semi-brown from going to the beach almost every day, but it never lasted–i soon faded again once i started working. now days, i don’t even try to sunbathe, due to my medication and fear of skin cancer–i always lather on the sunscreen and stay under the shade.

6. Have you ever been to a nude beach?
no. i think that’s a guy thing.

7. Favorite activity at the beach while on vacation?
just relaxing under a tree, doing a crossword puzzle, having the radio play nearby, but not loud enough to drown out the lull of the waves crashing, and a cool breeze blowing. perfect.

8. Condo, hotel or cottage rental?
i guess the only one i’ve done is the hotel. a cottage rental might be nice, though.

9. What beach in the whole wide world would you like to visit for the first time?
gosh. any one, really.

10. Did you ever have a special romantic time at the beach?
oh yes. 😉

11. Tell us about a favorite beach memory.
i remember sunday getting up really early to go to the beach, because it wasn’t crowded then. not one specific memory there, but just the fact that we went every week, in those early morning hours, that makes me smile and look back fondly. i also remember every afternoon while i was in college, going to the beach with my hula sisters, and standing in the water and practicing our chants, to get our voices to carry. that was fun.
