Thanksgiving Meme

i rarely do themed memes (heehee!) but i need something fast…this is from tenseteacher.

1. Which do you like better: Cooking at your house, or going elsewhere?
going elsewhere. it’s just tradition to go to grandma’s house. my house isn’t equipped for a large cookout, as well.

2. Do you buy a fresh or frozen bird?
i don’t buy, but i think the turkey is frozen. my grandma usually cooks it the whole day, starting from early morning, so i’m assuming it’s because it’s frozen. can you even get fresh turkey here, i wonder?

3. What kind of stuffing?
i think my grandma makes hers from scratch…i know it’s different than the kind we get on new year’s day and christmas day, when the turkeys are made by other people and obviously from a box.

4. Sweet potato or pumpkin pie?
i like both, but i admit, i loved pumpkin pie since i was younger. i haven’t eaten pumpkin pie in a loooooong time though. yum.

5. Do you believe that turkey leftovers are a curse, or the point of the whole thing?
turkey leftovers are always made into chuk, which is nice. but i don’t eat turkey, anyway, so i guess it doesn’t matter?

6. Which side dish would provoke a riot if it was left off the menu?
my mom makes these yummy yams that people are always looking forward to. my cousin tried to replace it with squash one year, and that didn’t go over too well…

7. Do you save the carcass to make soup or stock?
yes, my grandma makes chuk with it. my mom buys a small turkey on her own *specifically* so she can make chuk. 😉

8. What do you wish you had that would make preparing Thanksgiving dinner easier?
money.

9. Do you get up at the crack of dawn to have dinner ready in the early afternoon, or do you eat at your normal dinner hour?
we eat at the normal hour.

10. If you go to somebody else’s house, what’s your favorite dish to bring?
it varies from year to year. i’m never asked to bring anything so it’s usually some sort of pupu type thing, for snacking purposes only.

11. What do you wish one of your guests wouldn’t bring to your house?
their condescending opinions.

12. Does your usual mix of guests result in drama, or is it a group you’re happy to see?
i’m happy to see some of them…but the rest are just a bunch of drama kings.

13. What’s your absolute favorite thing on the menu?
i like pumpkin pie, but i rarely eat that anymore. i guess my favorite would be the sashimi, as i don’t care for turkey or ham (i know!).
